2020 Vision!!

Welcome back artists, it’s 2020!! The past two years college and work have consumed my being and although I have attempted to revamp the site a few time, my efforts fell in face of responsibilities. :( 2019 was an awesome year of art for me, I really began to expand my Mediums, starting in water coloring, and finally dedicated a little more time to what I love most - Art! I recently started a instagram art account and fell in love with the positive response it’s gained. It reminded me of the good old days when i used artstars to share my art and connect with people... this got me thinking, what if I connect the two platform; hence the inspiration, a new millennium makeover was needed! Over the past 3 days I have revamped ArtStars completely and Im excited to share my new visions with you all!

I really wanted to dwell on the phrase that has dominated this website since it’s early days, “Art for All”. This phrase means so much to me as each year I learn more and more about the amazing things art is capable of and how we don’t just create art, it creates us! I believe that art is powerful and has the ability to unite the world despite barriers. Personally, art has helped me with mental health and wellness as it is a way to express myself and cope with life’s stressors. I wanted to reflect these new ideas in the new design! New logo, new structure, new tab names! I wanted to start fresh with the look, keep it clean, yet still playful and colorful, after all art isn’t perfect. The main color, the iconic red now accompanied along with the addition of the rest of the rainbow colors, each color representing a feature on the blog. I thought it was a colorful way to express inclusion and visual interest into the site. Despite all the changes and new logos, the purpose has always stayed true to being a social art blog dedicatedly to sparking community and smiles through art, which I hope I can get back Into this millennium! :D

Thanks for stopping by, glad you are here!

Crisp Fall Updates!

Hello friends, glad to be back and posting, and thrilled to talk to you about the recent updates to ArtStars.

From first glance, ArtStars looks unreconizable, and it is.

I had been planning for a new logo sometime soon and possibly a few internal updates as well; as I began to edit I began exploring options and got carried away in the best way... I started the homepage again from scratch!

The current homepage is the result.

I got tired of the boxed-in, sturn look of the former style and went for something totally different.

I wanted the focus to change from box to   and let me be honest it was definitely a disigner struggle, having everything to flow and be propotionally pleasing while also trying hard to make it mobile phone accessible.

It was hard, and I can't believe I did most of it within one night, as with most of my art  projects, once I have an idea I don't want to stop until I've got it down, same went for the redisn, I consider my blog one of my greatest art projects and I hope that shows through.

I asked myself how I could make the homepage even simpler, as that has always been my goal.

I want someone to see the homepage for the first time and having a good feeling. Ultimatelly I wanted the homepage to look like a paint pallete with tons of splotches of paint everywhere, I feel the idea stayed true to originality, fun-loving, and art-speciafic deisgn!

My other designs consisted of modernizing and having less boxes and more clean lines; they were good but I tried to look "outside the box" and do something completely unexpected and push myself from my confort zone.

Seeing the outcome was inspiring! I understand that this is the most drastic change I've ever made and getting used to it is even hard for me, but for now I am really happy with it.

After the homepage was complete, other pages naturally had to have simple changes as well and the new logo became clear to me!

Now everything flows and I am super happy to be able to share the all these changes with you!

My old slog "create outside the box" no longer felt right and so I went back to "Art for all!", symbolic of a brand new ArtStars, but holding onto those original core values and hopefully serving everyone the best of it's ability!

Stay artsy!

Happy New Years! We've come to the end of 2016 and now 2017 is beginning! It has been a long year and I have not be keeping ArtStars up to date because truthfully I have just been too busy to up-keep it all. I do however have some news! I have been working on an update recently and I think it's pretty exciting. I'm thinking about updating the look of Artstars! It's a bit drastic however considering there is a new logo and theme. Nothing is final here so please leave your comments below on the screenshot pre-image of the new update! I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and Holiday season and I look forward to posting in the new year! Until then, let you creativity soar! -Liwis :)

Summer Updates!

Posted on July 18, 2015 at 2:20 PM Comments comments (0)

Hi everyone, there are some updates coming to Artstars this Summer! To start I plan to give the homepage just a little remodel. I am have removed the Google and Facebook buttons from the homepage because I realised hat they don't really have to much use to them. But I still want your opinion so please comment below is you think they should stay or go. Next there will be some changes comimg to the contests! I have recently been told that some or the contests such as the recent 4th of July Fireworks Contest are limited to those in the US. They were right and so from now on I will be changing up the contests. My plan is to keep some US Holidays but also have general holidays so anyone may enter. Thats means that unlike before there will be more than one contest at certain times. I still do not have this all figured out and it could still change, so stay tuned for more on this in future updates. Speaking of contests, there is a new contest out today! The theme is "Summer fun under the Sun!", Check it out on the homepage! Also to add to the fun, there is also a new art tool for everyone to use! The art tool Thisissand will now be linked on the Create page!

I hope everyone is having fun and making awesome memories under the sun this Summer! Always: Liwis :)
